Changes to Your Order Building Experience
This summer has been transformative for our online ordering system, with several enhancements to the platform and its customization. The most significant was to our Order Experience Builder. In the last quarter, we rolled out a major update, integrating PerimeterX, now known as HUMAN, for enhanced protection against credit card bots and introducing a revamped Experience Builder. This new version is designed to be agile and feature-rich, setting the stage for expanded customization capabilities in the future.
As a result, we are discontinuing Menu V2, our old online ordering experience. If you launched your Online Ordering program in the past year or have already migrated to the Order Experience Builder, there is no impact on you, and no action is required.
For those who have been Paytronix Online Ordering customers starting Q4 of 2021, you will need to update. We encourage any brands that have not yet migrated to the Order Experience Builder to do so by October 31. This migration will give you greater control over the visual design of your guests’ online ordering experience. If you are currently using Menu V2, you should be receiving communications outlining this change and providing guidance.
More Personality to Your Profile
This summer, we’ve introduced exciting new visual elements to your guests’ online ordering experience, allowing you to infuse your brand’s personality into every interaction. You can now add favicons and Lottie animations to your online ordering platform.
Favicons are the small icons or logos that appear in a browser tab. If you’re unsure what they are, just look at the small images on the left side of your open browser tabs—those are favicons. While they may seem like a minor detail, favicons are powerful branding tools that help consumers easily recognize your brand online.
Lottie animations, on the other hand, offer a more dynamic touch. These are full-screen animations triggered by specific actions, similar to the animations you see on an Android or iPhone when you send a “happy birthday” message and balloons appear. Lottie animations make your guest experience more engaging, dynamic, and enjoyable.
New Ways to Tap Into Mobile
In today’s digital landscape, it’s essential for brands to offer a mobile channel for guest interactions. Recognizing that each brand has unique needs to grow their program, we’ve launched an alternative solution for your mobile presence the Progressive Web App (PWA).
PWAs are web pages designed to deliver user experiences similar to platform-specific applications, but they are built using web browser technology. Many leading brands, including Twitter, Spotify, and Tinder, use PWAs as their primary choice for mobile apps.
When considering a PWA versus our branded app, it’s important to understand the key differences. PWAs are lightweight alternatives with some limitations. They generally offer fewer features compared to traditional apps, have fewer options for guest interaction, and rely on the compatibility of the guest’s browser. These characteristics make PWAs an excellent choice for brands who aren’t looking for a complete mobile picture, but want specific features focused on ordering.
Other Impactful Changes
- Get Reward Details Endpoint: Get Reward Details endpoints provide detailed information about a reward wallet’s configuration, including applicable item IDs and reward conditions. This helps in building loyalty profiles and distributing rewards appropriately. In our latest update, we have opened this feature to third parties, allowing them to see which check-level items are eligible for rewards.
- External Notification Service: The External Notification Service (ENS) is a crucial system that enables our platform to send important information to other systems or applications you use. For example, we rely on ENS to transmit data from our platform to customer data platforms like Twilio or mParticle. With our latest enhancements, you can now pass even more detailed customer data to these external systems, applications, and partners.
